On Sunday, Esteban and I went to Parque Metropolitano Guanguiltagua. It was a beautiful day – sunny, warm breezes, and blue skies. We packed a lunch of sandwiches and mandarinas, our new books (mine in Spanish and his in English), and a blanket.
We walked through a lot of the park – which is HUGE – it’s over 1.6 times as large as Central Park in NYC. I was searching for a roving group of llamas that live in the park but never caught a glimpse. I will return to find those llamas. They are a wily species.
When we got tired of looking for the llamas, we picked a tree, laid out the blanket, and started reading our books. We ate our sandwiches and little mandarinas. Esteban fell asleep and I stretched out and soaked up the sun, the birds singing, the smell of the eucalyptus trees, and the sound of the wind in said trees. No phones. No computer screens. Just sunshine and a complete lack of stress or worry. Eventually we walked home and stopped for ice cream on the way. IT. WAS. GLORIOUS.
I haven’t been so relaxed in a long time. I think it is because my decision mentioned in an earlier post is made and for this I am happy and grateful. At some point I will share more about this but suffice it to say, I am okay with what is happening in my life. I am a very lucky girl to have lots of love all around me.
- Most people just call this park Metropolitano.
- The park is higher than the city on one side and the valley on the other so it has great views no matter where you look!
- This is at a lookout that faces the valley where Cumbaya is located.
- Selife!
- I found E’s book at an Internations book sale. It’s his first real book in English.
- See how huge it is compared to the rest of the city?
