Every other Sunday Quito participates in a cool activity – Ciclopaseo. When I visited Bogotá, they participated in this event as well! Quito shuts down many of the city’s main arteries to cars and opens them to bicycles. The entire route is 30 km and about 40,000 people participate. I mentioned to my brother, Henry, that I would love to ride my bike one Sunday. He was nice enough to remember and ask me to go! André came with us. We biked for about three hours. We rode through the historic center of Quito, stopped for yummy ice cream, stopped and bought nuts, cookies, and tostado, and stopped to take in the beautiful views. (As you can see, the stops were the highlight of the trip.)
I hope I get to do it again! Henry and André were fantastic tour guides and I really had a blast.
