This past weekend I went to Otavalo. Otavalo is a little town about two hours outside of Quito. It is well known for its large market. I was invited along on a trip with a few friends.
We shopped for a few hours then headed over to Cotacachi which is known for it´s leather. The people in the town have been preparing leather the same way for years. Before I return to the US, I´m going to return and buy a jacket and some boots!
On the way home, we stopped at a rose farm. (Did you know that the US buys over 75% of Ecuador´s roses? It’s a major export!) I bought 2 dozen roses for my host mom for TWO DOLLARS!!!
It was a fun and relaxing day!
