Visas and Immunizations

So I’ve been approved to work by the Ecuadorean government! I was granted a work 12-III visa which will allow me to work and travel in Ecuador for one year. Up until now, I’ve known I was going to Ecuador but it didn’t seem real. Now that I have the visa, I am starting to believe that everything is really going to happen!!

In addition, I had my doctor’s appoint with Fern. (My doctor’s name is Fern. She is so weird but very competent. I really like her and I don’t know why!) I got three of my immunizations (ouch!) and was prescribed a few different medicines. But Fern wanted to be sure I was in the clear if I visited the jungle, so I will visiting Beth Israel’s travel clinic in a couple of weeks. I will also be visiting my ridiculously nice dentist. I have really lucked out with the quality of my health care in Boston. I really appreciate my doctors!

The one fly in the ointment is my lack of childhood medical records. I don’t have my immunizations written down anywhere and I need to tell the doctor which ones I received and when. Other than that, it’s all starting to come together. Aaaah! I can’t believe it!
