Not an Especially Thought-Provoking Post…

Lately I’ve been feeling patriotic about the US. I love this wonderfully flawed melting pot / salad bowl / mosaic in which I live. (You may choose the term you prefer. It all depends on what decade you were in elementary school and your beliefs about how cultures should come together. I’m a salad bowl person myself.) So what is this great country missing….?

AN AWESOME THEME SONG

There are some great songs about America out there. I love “This Land is Your Land” by Woodie Guthrie. I sang “50 Nifty United States” in grade school and I still like that one. And of course you can’t forget the Ray Charles version of “America, The Beautiful”. But there isn’t an modern upbeat patriotic song that I can put on my iPod and play while I’m in Ecuador but missing the good ol’ U.S of A.

In order to inspire any songwriters who might read this post, I am including a video from Chile. I really wish we had as cool a song as this is. The song talks about all the fabulous characteristics of Chile but does so in a really cool way. It makes me want to dance and visit Chile at the same time. The chorus actually encourages audience participation!!!

Are you listening songwriters of the USA? I need a great theme song to bring to Ecuador!

(Thank you Kaitlyn for bringing this awesome song to my attention!)

  1. Love the music and beat, but did not understand the words, you have to let me know what they are singing. Sounds like they sure love their country.

I am with you 100% on America, best country in the world regardless of all our troubles.
