During the school year, I’m always teaching, planning, grading, or exhausted due to all the teaching, planning, and grading. When I’m invited to do something, my answer is usually no – especially if it means I’m going to be outside of my comfort zone. This is not a pattern I wish to continue when I’m in Ecuador – or when I return to Boston! So I’ve decided that I am not going to turn down any invitations for the rest of the summer…if I can help it.
Today was my first test. When I asked my friend Laura if she wanted to see a movie, she asked if I wanted to go to New Hampshire and see a movie at Chunky’s with her friend, Katie. I didn’t know what Chunky’s was, I’ve never been to New Hampshire, and I don’t know Katie that well so this was the perfect test of my new policy.
It was a blast. We ended up seeing two movies in two different towns. I got to see a little bit of New Hampshire. And I had fun hanging with someone new.
Who knows what will happen now that I’m just a girl who can’t say no?!
P.S. If you can figure out the significance of the title of this post, you are fab!
Was it a drive-in? Well…it may be a good thing you are not with me…today we climbed the Tourmalet. But, I am making a list of…and will propose to you a doozy when I return!!! Love your policy!!!!! A new grading system might be necessary too!!!
